Windows Dialup
Sometimes Windows 9x or Me will not remember your password
Here are five reasons why this might occur: Check each one in turn to see the result!!
l. Password caching maybe disabled. To verify, check to see if the following registry key is present:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software \Microsoft \Windows \CurrentVersion \Policies \Network \DisablePwd Caching: If it is, and it has the value of l, then password caching has been disabled. Either delete this key or change the value to 0.2. One of the files associated with Dial-up Networking may be damaged. You will need to remove Dial-up Networking and then reinstall it.
3. Your password list file may be damaged. This is located in your Windows directory with the name <username>.pwl. Delete this file. Restart your computer Windows will create a new password file for that username.
4. The rna.pwl file, if it is present, may be damaged. It is located in your Windows directory. Delete it and restart your computer Windows will create a new rna.pwl file.
5. The network setup may not have been fully installed and in the start menu a logged on name may not be displayed. If so, check Network for Microsoft Family logon.
