Web Site Design SIG: Frequently Asked Questions
When and where do we meet?
Currently we meet on the
fourth Tuesday morning of each month (except January), from
10 A.M. to
12 P.M. (midday) in Meeting Room 2 in Melbourne PC User Group's main headquarters, which are on
Level 2, Chadstone Place, Chadstone (Shopping) Centre (Melway Map Reference
69 E4). Extended parking is usually available at the underground car park near Bi-Lo.
What is the format of our meetings?
We usually begin with a short Q & A (Question and Answer) session answering any minor difficulties, then we have one or more short presentations before our refreshment break at 11 AM. This is followed by our main presentation which may include a guest speaker.
How technical is this group discussion?
Our group aims to touch upon all aspects of designing, creating and maintaining a Web site, so the technical level will vary from beginners to semi-advanced. Most of our members seem interested in learning the rudiments of Web site creation so they can build an attractive personal or home Web site, while a few will want to go further and create a commercial site that can be used for affiliate marketing, etc. We will endeavour to discuss all their requirements over time.
Who may attend our meetings?
We welcome all members of Melbourne PC User Group. We also extend a welcome to any visitors in they hope that they will enjoy the cheerful atmosphere of our group and eventually become members of Melbourne PC User Group too.
What operating systems do you use?
We demonstrate software and Web pages using Windows XP. Most of our software will run on Windows 98/ME. We do not cater for Macintosh OS users though Web resources are equally available to them.
What is the size of your group and what presentation facilities are available?
We have about 20-30 members at our meetings but can accommodate 50 or more if required. We have a digital projector, voice amplification for hearing-impaired members, and a fast Internet connection.
How else can I stay in touch with your group?
There is a section in the Melbourne PC User Group
Forum where further discussions may take place. Also feel free to add your name and e-mail address to our mailing so we can notify you of changes to our meetings, etc.
Whom may I contact for further information?
Feel free to e-mail our Convener,
Barry Andrews, or our Assistant Convener,
Paul Gallagher.
