Bill Dair and Kelvin Cording are the co-convenors of this sub group of the Retired and Interested Persons Interest Group.
The aims of the sub group are summed up in its mission statement as follows:-
  • to assist its members to an understanding of personal computer hardware,
  • to help solve problems associated with the installation and maintenance of such hardware and,
  • to increase our collective knowledge of this rapidly changing area of technology

Members who are new to hardware can bring their defective machines and/or associated equipment to the meetings and the combined expertise of the group is brought to bear on the problems.

It is an aim of the members to build up a set of replacement components so that a known good component of suitable type may be substituted for a dubious one.

Assistance has been provided to

  • add RAM to machines
  • fit CD Rom's to machines
  • add and configure new hard drives

and many other small computer hardware enhancements have been satisfactorily completed.
