Next meeting Monday, 16th August 20102.30 PM to 4.30 PM Q & A Session and Brief Oral, Written or Computer Presentations. - Input from members on any problems or items of interest from members research. Eureka Moments !! : We all have experienced from time to time those special research moments where an item of family interest is found, often unexpectedly. In many cases this happens without much anticipation from us as researchers and is therefore much appreciated. Colin A Ackehurst and Ian Thomson have had a few of these experiences which have occurred recently and will share them with members of the group. All members are invited to participate in sharing their "Eureka Moments". If possible please advise Colin A Ackehurst by email before the meeting if you want to contribute your experience to this meeting. Family History Websites: If any members have knowledge of a "new" or interesting website the Genealogy Group would appreciate comments from any member on their experience in using the website. The Lost Cousins Website Newsletter advises of a website that is of interest to those with ancestors in London being "London Lives - 1690 to 1800 Crime, Poverty and Social Policy in the Metropolis" found on http://www.londonlives.org/static/Project.jsp Any further suggested websites will be demonstrated "live" on the internet at the meeting. Five such websites were listed at the last meeting. Some of these will be discussed in detail under the next Agenda Item at this meeting. Revised Indexes for Births, Marriages and Deaths in Australia and England and Wales: At the last meeting a brief description of these new indexes on the Internet was discussed. Bearing in mind the importance of this basic information an online demonstration will be carried out for the following indexes:
Family History Programs: The meeting will break up into two groups at 4:00 pm. One group will discuss FTM 2008, FTM 2009 and FTM 2010. Ian Thomson and Gary Wood are experienced users of FTM 2010 and will contribute to this group. The other smaller group will concentrate on FTM 2005 and FTM 2006. and any other family history program. Future Meetings: Suggestions for specific topics for future meetings would be appreciated. Your comments on the type of topics that would be of interest would be of great help in organising future meetings. Suggestions that will be acted upon at future meetings include a panel discussion on WW1 Military History covering the both Australian and British aspects. This is an extensive subject and will take up a full meeting. We are awaiting the return of several members who have expertise in these aspects before we schedule a date for the discussion. At a meeting later this year it is suggested that an Agenda item be a discussion on progress with the implementation of our Family History Virtual Presentations.
