At the November meeting John Bills-Thompson presented "Vendor Functions", demonstrating some of the most-used functions that ship with the Access application. In particular the Dlookup, DSum, DCount aggregate functions that cause the most grief regarding syntax were looked at. A very interesting example on "Pattern Matching: the Gestalt Approach" for finding the correct spelling for place names was included. The sample database that John built may be downloaded from the November 2007 entry on the the Access SIG website Presentations page. Ed Adamthwaite followed with a presentation on "Responding to Events with VBA". This covered when events occur, what sequence they take and what sort of events are the most used. A sample database may be downloaded from the same as that above. Craig Evans followed with problem solving. This kept us occupied for the remainder of the meeting. If you have worked with Access and would like to learn more in the company of like minded people, why not come along to a meeting? These are held at the Melbpc SIG rooms at 6:30 pm on the second Monday of each month except January. If you are having a problem with Access make a note or create a sample and bring it on a CD, memory stick or your laptop/notebook (no floppies please). Craig will help us to solve it for you.
